Few musicians hailing from the paradise of Sri Lanka are as versatile, dynamic and successful as Roshan. He is a drummer of ample experience, great repute and to his credit is the only skinsman to be fully endorsed by an international behemoth for both drums and cymbals in Sri Lanka. He has risen to the forefront of Asia’s music scene as a prolific player with immense personality. This is no small feat as Roshan Taraka Senewiratne has worked relentlessly to garner over a decade of musical experience performing for some of the leading bands and artists in the country. He is a left-handed drummer fluent with a combination of styles – orthodox as well as modern, with studio and live experience spanning multiple genres from Progressive Metal, Jazz, Pop, Thrash Metal, Technical Death Metal, Funk, Latin, Fusion and Eastern Rhythms.
Having toured the globe performing at leading festivals and tours in Australia, New Zealand, India, Dubai and Malaysia, he has also recorded with Stigmata on their globally acclaimed albums 'Psalms of Conscious Martyrdom' (2010) and 'The Ascetic Paradox' (2015) while he composed and recorded drums on Tantrum’s ‘Rebellion' (2012) album as well.
Roshan cites his sonic influences as Dream Theater, Megadeath, Iron Maiden, Arch Enemy, Slayer, Lamb Of God and Nevermore while he is inspired by Virgil Donati, Daniel Erlandson, Dave Weckl, Steve Smith, Tony Royster Junior, Mike Portnoy, Thomas Lang, Aaron Spears and Buddy Rich.Roshan now joins the star-studded alumni of the Dixon family also endorsing High Contrast TRX Cymbals; the first Sri Lankan based musician to achieve the above. This eclectic drummer and percussionist is a masterful musician, continuing to grow and is a paramount icon in the Lankan musical landscape.
